The touch screen is easy and intuitive to operate: just like a mobile phone you can swipe and zoom with two fingers. All the functions are simple and easily accessible and measurements can also be taken using the touch screen, which avoids moving the Leica DISTO D810 touch during the measurement.

It has never been easier to obtain the width, height, area or even the diameter of an object: one measurement to the object is all it takes. The desired dimension is marked using two arrows in the picture and the measured value appears in the display. In addition to the zoom on the Pointfinder, an overview camera is available for large objects.

Height measurement without laser reflection
Even if an object has no suitable laser reflection point, the height can be determined due to the combination of Pointfinder and tilt sensor. The height is calculated only with the measured tilt – no reflection of the laser beam is needed!

Tilt sensor - 360 Degree
Thanks to the in-built digital tilt sensor, the Leica DISTO D510 can quickly measure tilts up to ± 360°. The tilt sensor also allows you to measure absolutely horizontally or measure past obstructions (horizontal distance).

The Leica DISTO D510 is protected against damage from water and dust, approved to IP65 rating. The housing and keypad are specially sealed against water and dust with a special rubber sealing strip.

The Leica DISTO D8 has various functions that allow you to measure a roof safely. Further useful information can be obtained, including the height of the roof, the pitch of the roof in angles and the length distance from the edge of the roof to under the apex. The D8 will also allow you to measure the width of the roof. Using the length of the pitch and the width you can then obtain the area of the roof.

Several years ago, Leica Geosystems enhanced the Leica DISTO™ range by incorporating the Bluetooth wireless networking chip into several instruments. This allows the Leica DISTO™ to communicate with other devices and transfer wireless their measuring data.

Originally users operated software through Windows powered PCs, laptops and PDA devices, in order to run high powered applications like AutoCAD. They are excellent for office applications but not very mobile.

Field operatives are increasingly turning to smaller mobile devices or 'Smartphones', to collect data straight in the field and transmit the data back to the office. The latest models have increased power and performance, allowing software developers to create applications for these platforms.

By far the strongest growing Operating System for smartphones and Tablet PCs is coming from Google through their Android OS system. The growth is tremendous and already last year its market share was becoming the strongest for these product categories.

To keep abreast of technological advances, Leica Geosystems software partners have developed a range of applications which can run through the Android operating systems. With the integration of a Bluetooth wireless device, the Leica DISTO™ can communicate directly with the Android handset or platform, record the measurement and download the data into the chosen program.

Leica Disto D3a BT - Bluetooth Laser Measure

The biggest problem with developing plans through hand drawn sketches, is recording measurements incorrectly. The only time this will be picked up is when the plans are inputted into CAD. By this time it could be too late to re-measure or very costly to correct.

Therefore there is a growing requirement amongst architects and surveyors, to develop buildings plans digitally in real time. Not just taking a laptop with AutoCAD onsite, but also integrating a laser measuring instrument.

The Leica DISTO D3a BT with its navigation keys will allow most of the control from itself.

The Leica DISTO D3a BT features a measuring accuracy of ±1mm with an enhanced measuring range of 100m. The Power Range Technology boosts the measuring performance, allowing long range measurements to be taken.

Tilt Sensor
The instrument's inbuilt tilt sensor quickly and simply determines tilts up to ± 45°. This will allow you to measure the angle of a slope or the angle of a corner in a room.

Smart Horizontal Mode
Thanks to the combination of distance and tilt measurements you can determine the precise horizontal distance and indirect height. This is ideal if you need to know the height of roof beams or light fixtures from the floor, for the size of scaffold or access platform required to carryout maintenance.
