Cable Detection’s new EZiCAT i600 / i650 and LOGiCAT System

Cable Detection recently introduced a new digital range of cable avoidance tools (CATs), the i-Series has revolutionised the field of cable avoidance.

Leading the path of this new revolution is the EZiCAT i600 and i650 cable avoidance tools, make locating underground cables and pipes a simple and efficient task, ultimately saving time and money.

Cable Detection recently introduced a range of high specification cable avoidance tools, the new EZiCAT i600 and i650 cable LOCATORS. Both models incorporate data logging and Bluetooth wireless functionality, allowing the instruments to be fully analysed through Cable Detection's unique LOGiCAT SOFTWARE.

On board memory function records the activity of the devices to allow plant mangers to verify the EZiCAT’s usage and provides the ability to recall records following a near miss or service strike or similar incident. The on board memory can then be downloaded via Bluetooth wireless data transfer.

Data logging
The EZiCAT i600 / i650 cable avoidance tools record and store information whilst they are in use. The locators start to record information every second after completion of the initial start-up routine. These records (logs) are stored in the locators memory and can be retrieved and transferred via Bluetooth to a PC for analysis. The locators are capable of storing approximately 80 hours of records.

Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity
Both the EZiCAT i600 and i650 locators have the added benefit of Bluetooth wireless connectivity. It allows the EZiCAT to integrate seamlessly with mobile mapping technology to log survey data, in addition to enabling wireless Bluetooth data transfer.

LOGiCAT Software
Once downloaded, the LOGiCAT software retrieves the following information from the locator:

Time and Date Information
Identifies when and at what time ground surveys were conducted

Usage Duration
Determines how long survey teams searched for buried services and discovers actual product utilisation.

User Identification
Forces users to become accountable for their actions and identifies those who need additional product training.

Detection Mode Used
Allows managers to judge the quality and thoroughness of work. As more comprehensive ground surveys are conducted the locator records the mode of operation including the use of a signal generator.

Service Detection
Discovers quickly if any buried services were detected during surveys and even determines the signal strength shown on the locator.

Product Fleet Management
Displays and monitors the service and calibration dates of your locator fleet, ensuring they are kept in perfect working order and not being used when calibration is due.

Diagnostic Check
Displays locators which have failed the EST (Extended self test) and removes them from the active fleet for immediate repair. This reduces the possibility of defective equipment being used on site.

Management Reports
Produces basic statistical reports from the logged data, allowing users to see how products are utilised and how ground survey teams are using themon-site.

The LOGiCAT Software package consists of:
- LOGiCAT Software CD-ROM
- Bluetooth Dongle
- Software User Manual

Reflective Targets

Survey Express Services offer a range of retro reflective targets manufactured from a high grade, reflective material, to produce the best long distance measuring results.

The reflective material is manufactured by 3M so providing quality and state-of-the-art reflecting properties, full cube prismatic retro reflective sheeting that delivers optimal performance at all sight distances. Their high quality aligns them to be undertaken during precise engineering surveys.

Reflective targets can be placed around a structure to conduct a deformation survey. A series of measurements are taken to the reflective targets over time with any differences showing if movement of the structure has occurred.

Alternatively, reflective targets can be positioned as control points around a building to allow free station positioning.

Survey Express Services offer the retro reflective targets in two traditional colours, silver and ultra bright yellow in a range of size options (20mm, 30mm or 50mm).

Ladies Harness - Design by ladies for ladies

The design of a safety harness is a feat of engineering. It has to be comfortable for long periods of time whilst taking into account the force of a fall.

When a manufacturer designs a harness, it is always based on the requirements of a male. The chest, back and leg straps will be positioned for men, but do not take into account the requirements of females who often find these harnesses uncomfortable to wear.

Safety concerns have been raised about the dynamics of the harness when a female wearing a male harness falls. Often the chest straps tighten, causing damage to breast tissue.

Ridgegear RGH35 Harness
With this in mind, Ridgegear has developed the first harness for ladies. The new Ridgegear RGH35 is specially designed by ladies for ladies.

The Ridgegear RGH35 harness is manufactured with a high chest “V” and centre strap which fits comfortably between the breasts to limit any possible damage in the event of a fall.

The harness is supplied with a waist belt for additional comfort and quick connect leg adjustments to aid donning.

Comfort leg pads are supplied as standard and shoulder pads can be supplied as an optional extra.

The Ridgegear RGH35 harness is manufactured using 43mm water repellent Polyester webbing.

Rip Stitch
Ridgegear has incorporated a rip stitch indicator. This simple but effective safety indicator shows if the harness has been used within a fall. If an operative uses this harness at height, and unfortunately falls, the force can affect the mechanics of the harness. The rip stitch indicator detaches and shows if the harness has been damaged.

Available in Three Sizes
Three sizes are available; small 10-12, medium 14-16 and large 16+

About Ridgegear
Ridgegear have been pioneering the development of height safety equipment for over 70 years. Their range of safety lanyards are at the forefront of technological developments to provide maximum safety and protection to the operative.
